The first owners are now taking possession of their new homes in Casa Burés

The delivery of the homes is the final chapter in a fascinating story that commenced with the purchase by Bonavista of this extraordinary modernist building.

The building´s meticulous restoration has revealed outstanding artwork hidden for decades in it´s interior, and the new owners are fully aware they are moving into a vital part of Barcelona´s architectural heritage.

The meticulous refurbishment of Casa Burés has restored the building and its modernist artwork to it´s original splendour as well as equipping its 26 new homes with premium amenities and all of the comforts required for modern livestyles.

A modernist palace restored by an avant-garde architect

The TDB Arquitectura studio lead by Juan Trías de Bés has followed in the footsteps of Francesc Berenguer delivering a new project that remains faithful to the original essence of Casa Burés

Casa Burés is one of the most representative modernist palaces in Barcelona, and was built for the textile magnate Francesc Burés between 1900 and 1905. The same craftpeople who were involved in the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera, worked on Casa Burés.

Francesc Berenguer i Mestres was Antoní Gaudi´s right hand man. They worked together on many remarkable buildings including Casa Calvet, the Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia, and the Guell wine cellers.

The restoration project has been directed by the TDB Arquitectura studio lead by Juan Trías de Bes.  TDB Arquiitectura´s references include the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona and the campus of the ESADE business school in Sant Cugat. The interior design has been carried out by vilablanch studio.

A striking example of TDB Arquitectura´s reinterpretation of the original essence of Casa Burés, is the application of Gaudi´s  “fourth façade” concept, transforming the rooftop washing zone into a premium amenities area.

The Casa Burés restoration project has been awarded first prize in the European Property Awards in 2016-2017 in the Residential Restoration category.

21st Century living

The building now showcases  fully restored modernist artwork  in perfect harmony with all of the comforts and finishes  required for 21st century living.

The interior design project clearly distinguishes between what are original features and the new. For example the new finishes and colours in no way attempt to either imitate or compete with the original ones.

Whilst the new project has incorporated the very latest installations and avant-garde kitchens and bathrooms, teams of craftspeople have restored mosaic floors, wall paintings, carpentry, original celings as well as bronze, stone and marble features.
