Casa Burés

Casa Burés was built by Catalan architect Francesc Berenguer i Mestres between 1900 and 1905, and is one of Barcelona’s most beautiful modernist jewels. The building has 7.700 square meters distributed over six floors, and it is listed and enjoys the highest protection category as cultural heritage since 1979. Vilablanch studio specialises in the restoration of housing with high heritage value, and that is one of the reasons it was selected for Casa Burés interior design project, considering that all its modernist architectural and interior original elements are protected and had to be respected and restored. The Vilablanch team, under the direction of its founding partners Agnès Blanch and Elina Vilà, defined three interior design concepts for this residential building (26 properties) matching the intrinsic qualities of each existing space, and defined the project materials and finishes, designing as well the new added elements (pavements, coatings, colours, kitchens, bathrooms, doors, handles, railings, lighting project, furniture, etc). The interior project strategy had two goals, to recover and highlight the building’s original decorative elements, and to adapt the housing to contemporary functional needs in terms of distribution, technology and daily life comfort. While original materials like the “nolla” mosaic pavement, the polychrome ceilings and the rich mouldings have been respected and restored using traditional artisanal techniques, the new added colour and materials are clearly di erentiated and do not imitate neither compete with the modernist ones.

Vilablanch Studio specialises in the restoration of housing with high heritage value.

ELINA VILÁ AND AGNÈS BLANCH FOUNDED THEIR INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO IN BARCELONA IN 1999. SINCE THEN, THE STUDIO HAS CARRIED OUT A BROAD RANGE OF INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS FOR RESIDENTIAL, OFFICE, AND COMMERCIAL SPACES, AND HAS ORGANICALLY GROWN A FIRST-RATE TEAM OF 14 ARCHITECTS AND INTERIOR DESIGNERS.
ELINA VILÁ E AGNÈS BLANCH HANNO FONDATO IL LORO STUDIO DI INTERIOR DESIGN A BARCELLONA NEL 1999. DA ALLORA, LO STUDIO HA CURATO UN’AMPIA VARIETÀ DI PROGETTI DI ARCHITETTURA DI INTERNI PER EDILIZIA RESIDENZIALE, UFFICI E SPAZI COMMERCIALI E NEL TEMPO È CRESCIUTO FINO A DIVENTARE UNA PRESTIGIOSA STRUTTURA CON

Bonavista Beach: sun, sea and sand just minutes from the city centre

A TRULY UNIQUE PROJECT

Nestled between Gavà’s coastline and its pine groves, Bonavista Developments has transformed a 11,500 sqm plot of land with direct access to the beach, to develop eleven designer villas, each offering between 300 and 500 sqm of beautiful living space. Designed by the highly-acclaimed studio GCA Architects, each home features remarkable open-door architecture, perfect for enjoying the superb Mediterranean climate the whole year round.

GCA Architects’ design maximises natural light throughout the villas, even in the basements where – along with car parking facilities – each owner benefits from a bespoke leisure space, ideal for use as a gym, spa, wine cellar or private cinema.

The studio designed the ground floor – featuring the living room, dining room and kitchen – as a vast relaxation and leisure area, where the large glazed windows offer magnificent views of the garden.

Natural light, the sea and nature encapsulate the core essence of the project, with white serving as the predominant colour.  All homes benefit from generous terraces, a private swimming pool and a lift.

FAÇADES THAT BLEND SEAMLESSLY WITH THE MEDITERRANEAN WAVES

At Bonavista Beach, the property façades are made with local Cumella ceramics, recreating the smooth ripple-effect of the Mediterranean waves.

Cerámica Cumella is a hundred-year-old firm founded by master ceramicist Antoni Cumella, who also founded the FAD art and design school in Barcelona. Some of his pieces can currently be found in Barcelona’s Modern Art Museum (MACBA).

Modernist sites such as the Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell and the Hospital de Sant Pau Cumella all boast Cumella ceramics, while the firm has also worked on modernist projects by prestigious studios, such as the Botín Art Centre in Santander (Renzo Piano), Santa Caterina Market (by Enric Miralles-Benedetta Tagliabue), and the MAAT in Lisbon (Amanda Levete).
